I worked with the Merriam CVB (Karen Crane) on a March, 2017 senior citizen bus trip.  I appreciate the helpfulness and coordination the CVB provided in setting up my trip to KC Strings, Strawberry Hill Povitica, Lee’s Jeans Heritage Hall Museum and Mixture.  The Merriam CVB did a great job in working with businesses to allow senior citizen bus tours to take tours of their companies.  Senior citizens enjoy the opportunities to go “Behind the Scenes” at businesses to learn about their history and operations.  It is also beneficial to the businesses in marketing their products.  A lot of Povitica bread was loaded on the bus!  Thanks to the Merriam CVB for an enjoyable and informative day for the Security Bank of KC Primetime Senior Social Club.

Just a quick note to say thank you for a variety packed mystery tour! The gang liked the whole element of “who knew?” Which was just what I was hoping for! Thank you ,Karen, for holding our hand every step of the way and making us feel welcome and special!

“What can I say about Anton and Dan -- they are masters! So different, so unique--people couldn't pick a favorite stop. We are all still talking about what we saw. The instruments, the loft, everything. We definitely need some work when it comes to the Karaoke but we all got a kick out of watching ourselves on the way home. The ice cream sundaes and the soda shop was also perfect. We all felt Dennis' heart was in being a soda-jerk and he was settling for pharmacy! He was great with the group. Thank you again--your itinerary is the best. We all highly recommend it!!”

“I visited Merriam early in 2008 on a research trip for an article that appeared in Bank Travel Management Magazine. Prior to my visit, Karen Crane and the Visitors Bureau staff arranged an itinerary to fit the interests of our publication. During my one-day visit, Karen escorted me to a number of the area's interesting attractions, including GuitarLamp, K.C. Strings and the Russell Stover factory. Karen was very helpful and enjoyable throughout the visit, and her assistance was key to our production of a successful article.”

“I first encountered the 'down home' friendliness which characterizes Kansas on a media tour in 1995. The warm and genuine welcome shown by small communities such as Merriam have colored my view of Kansans and their state ever since. A self-initiated media trip with my wife by car in October 2005 reinforced my feelings, which I've publicized in person and on the web. In a very real sense, what I and other travel journalists do is act as an extension of the tourist boards, with tourism as a fundamental industry supporting many other aspects of a community.”
