Merriam residents can now register their pets online. It’s the first time the City has accepted licenses through its website; just in time for the Jan. 1 pet registration renewal deadline.
The online portal allows you to apply for a new pet license or renew an existing one and pay necessary fees. Residents are allowed a maximum of three dogs and three cats per household, and pets over the age of six months must be licensed in the City.
Registering your pets will help identified them if they become lost. You can buy pet licenses for one, two, or three years. Owners must fill out a registration form and show proof of a valid rabies vaccination when applying for a license.
You may also register your pets in person at City Hall or by mail. There’s a $2 per month late-fee penalty for those who don’t renew their pet’s license by Jan. 15.
