Merriam’s largest art show of the year starts this weekend. The 22nd Annual Heartland Artist Exhibition opens Saturday, March 3 at 5 p.m. at the Tim Murphy Art Gallery. The juried show is featuring 69 artists from 13 states across the country. The awards ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday during the opening night reception that is free to the public. In addition to wonderful art, there will be refreshments and live music. The exhibit runs through March 31.
The Tim Murphy Art Gallery opened in 1996 and is located inside the Irene B. French Community Center. Its mission is to increase public awareness of the visual arts by providing a setting for exhibition and education. Gallery space features monthly exhibits by local and regional artists. All exhibits are free to the public, and many artists have originals and prints for sale to the public.
