The Tim Murphy Art Gallery in Merriam today released the complete list of winners from the 22nd Annual Heartland Artist Exhibition. The exhibition is Merriam’s largest art show of the year. The juried show featured 69 artists from 13 states across the country.
Artist Jonathan Murrill of Roanoke, Virginia received Best in Show for his charcoal drawing Denny. Kansas City artists Denny Dowdy took home second place for his piece Balconys and Richard Sneary for Carrie Furnaces #3. Kansas City artist Pat Jessee won the Purchase Award. The Merriam Park Recreation Community Center Foundation bought her piece, Chinese Grandmother, and it will now be on permanent display in the Irene B. French Community Center.

The Tim Murphy Art Gallery opened in 1996 and is located inside the Irene B. French Community Center. Its mission is to increase public awareness of the visual arts by providing a setting for exhibition and education. Gallery space features monthly exhibits by local and regional artists. All exhibits are free to the public, and many artists have originals and prints for sale to the public.
