Starting July 20, Johnson Drive will be completely closed for two weeks between Turkey Creek Bridge and the BNSF Railroad tracks. It’s part of the City of Merriam’s Johnson Drive Improvements Project.
Construction crews will start at 7 p.m. to replace the entire deteriorating roadway, curbs, and sidewalks. All businesses north and south of Johnson Drive will be open during the duration of the road closure. View alternate routes and detour maps.
The two-week full closure at Johnson Drive will maximize the benefit of time, money, road quality, and construction safety.
The Johnson Drive Improvements Project started on June 18 with crews completely repaving Johnson Drive and replacing curbs, sidewalks, and driveway approaches from Kessler Lane to west City limits. Construction crews are expected to restrict eastbound Johnson Drive to one lane of traffic from Merriam Drive to west City limits beginning August 9.
The entire project should be completed by October 15. Visit merriam.org/johnsondrive for more information.
