Merriam is hosting collection barrels for the 2019 Johnson County Christmas Bureau (JCCB) Holiday Shop now through November 22. Barrels are in place at City Hall and the Community Center, and residents and visitors are invited to participate. Items collected will be used to help individuals and families living below the poverty line in Johnson County at the 2019 Holiday Shop.
Items needed from the JCCB wish list this year include:
NEW: Children’s winter clothing, educational toys for newborn to age 12, gifts for teens (sports balls, beauty items, room decor), household gifts (small appliances, bedding, towels), personal care & cleaning (shampoo, deodorant, paper towels), hats & gloves for all ages, slippers, slipper socks, robes and blankets
NEW OR GENTLY USED: Books for all ages and coats
Johnson County Christmas Bureau's mission is to provide warmth and support during the winter holiday season to low-income families; to increase the awareness and understanding of poverty; and to give neighbors an outlet to help neighbors.
Did you know that one in seven Johnson County residents live below the poverty line? Each year, JCCB serves over 10,000-12,000 residents in our county.
