Merriam Police Chief Darren McLaughlin promoted Sgt. Brokaw to captain at the March 9 City Council meeting. Brokaw started his career with the Merriam Police Department in 2001. He worked this way up the ranks to detective and sergeant of the investigation’s unit. As a captain, Brokaw will oversee the department’s support services division.
Brokaw said he’s excited to move into this new role with the police department.
“I always set goals for myself and strive each and every year to achieve those goals, learn new things, and accept new challenges,” Brokaw said. “I’m looking forward to what the future has to bring.”
Merriam Police Chief Darren McLaughlin said Brokaw is a great addition to the administrative team.
“Chris is dedicated to helping the police department move forward,” McLaughlin said. “He has the vision necessary to help us achieve our goals of providing the best police services possible to our public and in providing a great work environment for our employees.”
Brokaw has a master’s degree in criminal justice. He received Merriam’s Officer of the Year Award in 2003 and 2019.
