In an effort to limit the community spread of COVID-19, the City of Merriam is closing all city offices to the public effective today, March 17 at noon through Sunday, April 5. All essential services will remain operational, and our employees are ready to assist you by phone or email.
Please call our main line at 913-322-5500 for city business, including pet and business licenses, garage sale permits, grant information, or general questions.
The Police Department lobby will remain open to the public for emergencies. You can reach the Merriam Police Department at 913-322-5560 during office hours or dispatch at 913-782-0720 after hours for non-emergency questions.
Community Development Department
Call our Community Development Department at 913-322-5520 if you have questions about building or flood plain development permits, occupational licenses, development proposals, or other questions. Employees will determine if you need to come in for a meeting by appointment.

Parks and Recreation
All Merriam Parks and Recreation classes and programs are canceled during this time. The Irene B. French Community Center and the Tim Murphy Art Gallery are also closed. Please read more information here.
You can pay a fine or search for Municipal Court cases by going to merriam.org/court. We also have a dropbox in between our front doors at Merriam City Hall if you need to drop off a check or a copy of your proof of insurance. For all other questions, please call 913-322-5540.
Cases scheduled March 24 through April 5 are postponed as follows:
March 24 will be continued on April 14, 2020, at 10 a.m.
March 31 will be continued on April 21, 2020, at 10 a.m.
March 26 will be continued on April 16, 2020, at the same time they were scheduled on March 26.
April 2 will be continued on April 23, 2020, at the same time they were scheduled on April 2.
All persons scheduled to appear will be contacted later this week with information about new court appearance dates.
